McCullum holds the nerves as Qalandars deposit their first PSL3 win

Lahore Qalandars 115-4 (McCullum 35* | Malik 1-4) beats Multan Sultans 114-10 (Sangakkara 45 | Afridi 5-4) by 6 wickets

Match 20 Multan Sultans vs Lahore Qalandars PSL3 – It took 9 games for Lahore Qalandars to bring their first win home in the HBL PSL. Thanks to Shaheen Shah Afridi who made the track look possible for the Qalandars. The 17-years old fast bowler took 5 wickets just in 3.4 overs. The game looked to slip a bit when Qalandars were 60-3, all it needed to hold the nerves and the package was offered by McCullum and Gulraiz Sadaf. In the end, the game went in the Qalandars way with 1.2 overs to spare in the nail-biting thriller.

Batting first, Multan Sultans were off to a flyer, powered by Kumar Sangakkara’s 45 off just 38 balls. But after his departure, the whole batting line up looked a mere wall of sand. When Shoaib Malik got out Multan Sultans score was 92 and within next three balls there was half of the team was returned to the pevilion by Shaheen Shah Afridi who took 3 wickets just in 4 balls picking up a total of 5 wickets. While Sunil Narine picked up 2 wickets.

In post match presentation ceremony, Multan Sultans captain Shoaib Malik said,

Even though we started of f  really well, but hats-off to Shaheen Afridi who took the game away from us.

When Lahore Qalandars came out to chase, they were very nervous in selecting the approach towards reaching 115. Some early blows from the Sultans bowlers brought themselves back in the hunt.That was the moment in the game which brought some twist in the tail. But, there were 60 for 3 down when Saif Badar dropped a couple of catches for Branden McCullum when he was batting on 9 and 10 runs respectively. Gulraiz Sadaf and the Qalandars captain together put a 50 runs partnership giving Lahore something to chear about. On behalf of Multan Sultans, Imran Tahir, Shoaib Malik, Saif Badar and Muhammad Irfan picked up 1 wicket each.

I’m really proud of the boys, the way they worked hard and came back was very proudy for the fans supporting Lahore Qalandars.

Man of the Match ( MS vs LQ)

The super young fast bowling talent: Shaheen Shah Afridi was named the man of the match. His belistric bowling spell was the turning point of the game.

Where they stand in the Points Table?

Multan Sultans with their second consecutive loss, losing the flow a just a little bit. But, they still stands on top of the points table of HBL PSL3 having 9 points. While Qalandars with their fist win of the HBL PSL still sticked to the last position with only 2 points
