Syed Shafaat Ali meets the Sultan and inquires if he knows Umar Gul

The Pakistani fast bowler Umar Gul is now the member of Multan Sultans. He was invited on the show  Chai with Sultan. There he had a lot of blather along with the host Syed Shafaat Ali. This show is basically a medium through which the Multan Sultans players are invited. For their fans could know about their cricketing journey. Their early life struggles, personal interests, sense of humor and many more gossips.

Talking about his native place it came to know that this Sultan belongs to the place located in Peshawar known as Nawan Kali. This place is renowned for producing world-class Squish players like “Sher Khan”, “Jahangir Khan” and “Atlas Khan” for Pakistan. They who won a number of titles especially in Olympics for Pakistan. Other Pakistani politicians like “Qamar Zaman” also belongs to that part of the city.

Then in an entertaining way, the host asked him if he knew about Umar Gul? , In a reply, Umar Gul said that hopefully, I will recognize him if he could offer him some images of Umar Gul.

Peshawar- born this Sultan played for five major teams which involve, Pakistan, Habib Bank Limited (HBL), Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), Sussex and Uva Next.

Discussing his mentor and inspiration, Umar Gul said that he started playing cricket inspiring from Imran Khan and the Sultan of Swing Wasim Akram. Every teenager at that time had a dream to play the game like these two cricketing legends.

Umar Gul occupied the bowling styles of Glenn McGrath in the early stages of his career, but he didn’t enjoy those techniques much for the fact that he got injured in 2004. During his injury, Gul worked really worked and relied on his natural talent and skills and didn’t copy anyone. He worked hard with the bowling coach Aqib Javed and the new head coach of Pakistan cricket team. He trained himself both in terms of gym training and the bowling training as well. That’s why on his comeback, in the very first game his pace suddenly jumped over 140 KMPS.

Umar Gul International Debuts:

33 years old – Umar Gul made his test debut for Pakistan in 2003 playing against Bangladesh in which he picked up 2 wickets. His test career-best bowling figure is 6/ 135 in an innings.Against Sri Lanka played in Lahore back in 2009.

On his ODI debut against Zimbabwe on Apr 03, 2003, Gul picked up 2 / 25 in his 7 overs helping Pakistan winning that contest by 68 runs. His ODI best bowling figure is 6/ 42 against England at Oval in 2010. He has two 5 wickets haul in his ODI career against England and Bangladesh.

Umar Gul made his T20I debut against Kenya at Nairobi in 2007. He has a handsome T20I career: he has 85 wickets to his name. This figure includes two of the most destructive bowling spells in the history of cricket. Umar Gul got 6/5 in the ICC T20 World Cup held in England in 2009, against New Zealand. He finished on the top the of the highest wicket-takers of that tournament. The second 5 wickets haul of his career is against South Africa. Back in 2013 picking up 6 wickets for just 5 runs.

Let’s not forget that Umar Gul was picked by Multan Sultans in the supplementary category for the upcoming season of the Pakistan Super League.
