Lahore Qalandars defeats make them unqualified for the Playoffs

Because of successive failures PSL says goodbye to Qalandars for this season

Lahore Qalandars successive defeats make them ineligible to qualify for the playoffs. Quetta Gladiators beating Peshawar Zalmi on Saturday night, that was a very alarming moment for Lahore Qalandars and its fans. This is the third occasion when Lahore Qalandars will finish last on in the PSL points table. Also the Lahore Qalandars captain Brendan McCullum clues to give up the captaincy. For the third consecutive time, Lahore Qalandars fails to bring smiles to the faces of Lahore citizens.

The third edition of Pakistan Super League was nothing but a fright nightmare, as they finish on the most bottom of the points table. They were facing the criticism of the six consecutive defeats before they were able to beat Multan Sultans in the nail-biting thriller. In the current scenario, though they have broken the shackles off, it proved to be insufficient to survive in the battle for the next round. With only one win and 6 defeats, they are standing at last, with the net run rate of -1.278.

With the current equation of the PSL points table, the best Lahore Qalandars can do now to finish with 8 points but that would not be sufficient as only 4 teams are going to make through the playoffs. The tournament is still open for the other 5 teams to step-up in the next round.

Lahore Qalandars have lowest win percentage in PSL

There are some ugly records stuck against the name of Lahore Qalandars team. They have the lowest win percentage (28.8%) in PSL. Not only in PSL particularly this is the lowest win percentage by any team in any franchise league all across the globe. Participating in 28 games of HBL PSL Lahore Qalandars could win only 6 games while 1 remained 1 tied. And in the PSL3 points table, they are standing at number 6.

Brenden McCullum to give up Lahore Captaincy

Lahore Qalandar’s captain, on the other hand, is on the verge of leaving the captaincy of the Qalandars. According to him, the time has come where they should think about changing the fate of the team. Despite the poor performace by Lahore Qalandars team on Friday, Sameen Rana the COO of Qalandars backed up McCullum saying his contribution towards the team is priceless and the management was not thinking about pulling him out of captaincy.

Fawad Rana said,

Brenden is very much commited to the team.. you must have witnessed that he is playing against his nature. He was very disappointed after saturday loss, and offered if his stepping down could make a difference then he was ready. This show his selfless approach towards Lahore Qalandars.

As big changes are expected to the Lahore team, Brendon McCullum said that after the PSL 2018 has ended we’ll sit and review our reasons behind defeats. Moreover, he said that they respect everyone who is passionate about the team and millions of people supporting our team back in Pakistan.
