“Excited to be part of Multan Sultans having Wasim Akram” – Abbas

Here we are with another exciting Sultan in the latest episode of #ChaiWithSultan

This time we are here with Muhammad Abbas in another interesting episode of #ChaiWithSultan. The show itself is a medium through which the Multan Sultans players are invited. For their fans be able to know about their cricketing journey, interests, about themselves and much more. Muhammad Abbas collected his test cap from the former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq. He is part of Multan Sultans team and invited to the show to have a few words concerning his views on joining Multan Sultans. Don’t forget that he is the part of Multan Sultans team, he was picked in the silver categories of players in the Pakistan Super League draft.

Sharing out his feelings being selected for Multan Sultans team, Abbas replied,” I’m excited to be part of the wonderful franchise which itself consists great stars like Wasim Akram, Shoaib Malik and Tom Moody. He said that Multan Sultans is a really good team its management staff, coaches and the entire team consists of big heroes like Wasim Akram,

Abbas said:

I’m super excited to be part of such a franchise which has Wasim Akram and Shoaib Malik in it, it will be a great opportunity for me to excell my game.

When asked about his feelings when he received the test cap from the Pakistan test Captain, he replied,“It was a pretty good experience to take his test cap from the Pakistani Living Legend Misbah-ul-Haq and it was an honour for him to be praised with such a marvellous achievement in the very start of his career.” Moreover, on playing with Younus Khan and Misbah-ul-Haq he said,“It’s just like dreams come true for him to play with these two legends of cricket fraternity which Pakistan ever has produced.”

Misbah-ul-Haq played a terrific role in sustaining the charm of cricket in his country. He was given a role of captain when Pakistan cricket was facing the stigma of spot-fixing in the form of three Pakistani cricketers involving into spot-fixing. But he fought like a real sultan and secured the Sultanate of Pakistan cricket. During his era, Pakistan test team was able to reach on top of the ICC test team rankings followed by an uncountable list of services which he did for his country.

Sharing his early life struggles for playing cricket, Abbas said,” I had an innate talent of playing cricket. Like other Pakistani cricketing stars, he also played street cricket and the domestic cricket. He played for different departments, franchises and for the other organizations. It was the fruit of his continuous struggles that he was selected for Pakistan national side. He represented his country in the test series against Windies last year (2017). The same series that Pakistan won for the first time in the history of Windies tours of Pakistan.

Right -arm fast bowler made his test debut on 21st April 2017 against Windies. He picked up his maiden test wicket on his second delivery dismissing Kraigg Brathwaite for nought. He finished that match by picking up 3 wickets, since then he is performing with consistency. Abbas has played 5 test matches picking up 23 wickets with the best of 6/77 in an innings.

Muhammad Abbas is playing the Qaid-e-Azam trophy since 2009. He was the leading wicket-taker with 76 dismissals to his name in the last season held in 2017. Abbas says,”I’m playing in the Quid trophy for the last ten years. And in the last three to four years I’m been able to pick up more wickets. When I bowl long spell I try to deceive the batsmen by locating their weak areas.”

When the host asked him to share his approach towards Pakistan Super League and especially about becoming a Sultan.  Abbas replied, “As I’m playing Qaid-e-Azam trohy for a long time, I was hoping to feature in the Pakistan Super League. But couldn’t find my place in the earlier editions. now, as I’m picked by Multan Sultans, I’m looking forward to this avail this opportunity. I’m confident to give my best provided if I could get a chance.”

#Rapid Fire Round:

This round is basically a segment in which the Sultan (i.e. guest) has to answer the question instantly. There is no time given to the contestant to ponder to the answer of the question. The questions involve a lot of priorities given by the Sultan over different things like foods, places, matches formats etc.

discovering Abbas preference between batting and bowling, it came to know that he liked bowling role over batting. If you are impatient to know his interests, let me tell you Abbas loved Day test match than Day/night matches. Moreover, he likes ODI format of matches than T20 format and loves his country as a hometown. Muhammad Abbas likes Palao over biryani and iPhone over Android.

#Tape Ball Challenge:

Tape ball challenge is another segment of #ChaiWithSultan where the efficiency of the Sultan or guest is guessed. The guest has to tape the tennis ball as quickly as he can. In the same fashion, Abbas was also provided with the tennis ball to tape.

Abbas finished the task in no time, he became the new tape ball challenge winner.He finished the task just in 18 seconds, beating Saif Badar and Muhammad Irfan with 26 and 40 seconds respectively.

Muhammad Abbas is looking forward to the opportunity provided by Multan Sultan franchise. He is super-excited to join the HBL PSL community. Moreover, he is confident to retain his super form of the domestic cricket.
