Shahzad back in Pakistan Squad for T20I series in New Zealand
Multan Sultans player Ahmad Shahzad is selected for the Pakistan team to feature in the T20I series between Pakistan and New Zealand. Ahmad Shahzad was dropped from the ODI squad but now been selected for the T20 squad, for the series going to start from 22nd January 2018.
26- years old Shahzad couldn’ t find his place in the national side since he was dropped in the 3rd and final T20I against Sri Lanka held back in November 2017, at Lahore.As we know, Ahmad Shahzad is out of form for a long time that’s why he is not been able to secure his position on the national side in either of the formats. Now, selectors believe that he can make a comeback.
The squad was announced on 10th January, by Chief Selector Inzamam- ul- Haq. The Chief Selector announced the squad after consulting with Mickey Arthur and Sarfaraz Ahmad. Ahmad Shahzad, Umar Amin, and Haris Sohail are added to the team whereas Imad Wasim and Sohaib Maqsood couldn’ t find their places due to the knee injury.
Wasim has to recover from the knee injury and was told to carry on treatment at the academy at Lahore. Sohaib Maqsood was not considered for selection due to back injury and continue rehabilition –

Ahmad Shahzad has represented his country in 53 T20I matches and with the average of 26.52 he has 1353 runs to his name. He has got a handsome strike of 115.54. His career-best innings is 111* against Bangladesh in the ICC T20I World Cup, 2014.
On the other hand, Ahmad Shahzad is the part of Multan Sultans in the HBL Pakistan Super League, for the upcoming season. He was released by Quetta Gladiators in the last draft and picked by Multan Sultans in the Gold category.
Adopting the New Zealand conditions can be a challenge for the sultan (Ahmad Shahzad) but he has got that ability to perform well in any sort of conditions. Let’ s hope that he will be able to recall his smashing form once again
The T20I series between Pakistan and New Zealand will start from the first T20I on 22nd January at Wallington, followed by the second and third T20I on 25 and 28 January at Auckland and Mount Maunganui, respectively.
