Duminy, Faheem defended Islamabad United top spot

Islamabad United 149-4 (Duminy54) beats Quetta Gladiators 147-7 (Sarfraz 43 | Faheem 3-19) by 6 wickets

Match 28 PSL Quetta Gladiators vs Islambad United – Islamabad United lead by Misbah-ul-Haq continued to prevail as they beat Quetta Gladiators by 6 wickets in the 28th match of HBL Pakistan Superleague 2018. It was their sixth successive win, set up nicely by the stuffy bowling performances that circumscribed Quetta Gladiators throughout their innings. Samit Patel once again provided Misbah an early break-through, while Faheem Ashraf’s three scalps make Quetta Gladiators batsmen look fools in the middle overs. Muhammad Sami’s PSL revival continued, while Ammad Butt and Hussain Tallat were also up to the mark. Quetta Gladiators resistance was powered only by their skipper who scored 30-balls 43, but since then nobody could manage pass 28, as they could manage 147.

These young guns have to play for Islamabad and Pakistan, in the future, so the idea is to give them maximum opportunities as they are in great form. I’ve full confidence in them and the team management does too. We’ve watched them and guessed what they can do.

JP Duminy is the Man of the Match of Match 28

Opening the batting is new to me, it’s something I’ve really enjoyed, and hopefully something I can take forward. I think the wicket played a little better in the second half. The key was to hold your shape when you play your shots.

Standings in the Points Table.

Irrespective of the final league matches on Friday, this win is enough to keep Islamabad United on top of the points table. Quetta Gladiators, on the other, stands second but it’s not too certain that they will remain second in the points table.

If Karachi Kings loses today and Peshawar Zalmi wins today, they will go second in the points table.
