Pollard prefers PSL over WC qualifiers

Pollard, Narine, Russel, pulled theirselves out in order to play PSL3

The latest PSL news has come up with underlying some good fortunes for PSL future as Multan Sultans allrounder Kieron Pollard has decided to miss the World cup qualifiers going to held in Zimbabwe which will run from March 4-25. Chris Gayle was selected in the Windies Squad for World Cup 2019 qualifiers but other leading players pulled themselves out to feature in that event.

The reason behind this cause is that they want to play Pakistan Super League 2018. So, the allrounders Kieron Pollard and Andre Russel, spinner Sunil Narine and the top order batsman Darren Bravo decided to prefer Pakistan Super League over WC qualifiers.

Windies are required to face the qualifying tournament after being slipped to ninth in the ODI rankings, with two teams from the qualifiers to join the World Cup 2019  at the England & Wales.

On the other hand, chairman of selectors Courtesy Browne showed a compliment for Chris Gayle and disappointment on the other players who didn’t show any sort of concern to this cause.

“We are pleased that Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels have indicated their full suppoet and commitment to the cause. Kieron Pollard, Sunil Narine, Darren Bravo and Andre Russel however shown that they were unavailable to help us qualify as their priority was playing in the Pakistan Super League.”

Courtesy Browne said in a statement

The two times WC champs have failed to put a strong team together for last two years. This is due to some bitter disputes between Cricket West Indies and their players. Since then Windies outfit is suffering from a major drop in their performances.

Kieron Pollard was returned to the national side last September against England. He has deposited his seat in the Multan Sultans Sultanate. While Darren Bravo who played 49 Tests, 94 ODIs and 12 T20Is, hasn’t been considered for the Windies fold since November 2016.

Andre Russel has not played for the Carribean side since 2016 after being banned for doping. He is to return the fast bowler set later in this month. He will resume his spot in the Islamabad United camp.

Sunil Narine who played the one-off T20 contest alongside Pollard will line-up for Lahore Qalandars in the UAE. While Windies ship hoping against to make their ways to the ICC World Cup 2019.

Dwayne Bravo, the elder brother of Darren Bravo who served his side in 164 ODIs wasn’t considered for selection as he has indicated his unavailability for the Windies squad in the future.

However, Jason Holder’s crew will be aided by the presence of 38 years-young opener Gayle. He has scored 9,420 runs on the international circuit. Also the middle-order batsman Samuels and Gayle’s explosive opening partner Evin Lewis will give a huge boost to the side.

The West Indies are to play their first game against World Cricket League Division Two team on March 6 in Harare, before playing against Papua New Guinea, Ireland, and the Netherlands in Group A.
