Chai with Sultan – Saif Badar

The young Sultan meets Abdullah Qureshi and shares his feelings regarding Multan Sultans

The Multan Sultan young player- Saif Badar was invited to the show chai with sultan, where he had a great time. He shared his early life struggles, cricketing journey, his inspirations, the man who supported him in terms of cricket support. Moreover, he had some entertaining segments like #Quick_Fire, #Tape_ball Challenge, and #no_loughter.   The 19 years old all-rounder was picked by Multan Sultans in the draft held in November 2017 in Lahore. He was picked in the emerging category of the players, to feature in the third season of HBL Pakistan Super League. He is one of the most impressive youngsters in Pakistan.

Every player has the journey through which he has to go through in order to be successful in his life. Same is the case with young Sultan – Saif Badar. He had that natural passion, interest or potential to play cricket since his childhood. He used to play cricket keenly in his childhood in the streets, sometimes, for a whole day. On the other hand, his family wasn’ t interested in this case that Saif should play cricket. They wanted him to study as much as he could.

Every hero has a man behind his success, Saif has his father to play that role. He said that his father is a cricket lover just like him. He likes cricket very much. His father had a will that Badar should be a cricketer in future. His father supported him very much in terms of playing cricket. His father always maintained that Saif should pay his full attention to his game.

Just like other Pakistani cricket stars, Saif also started his cricket through streets. Whereas, unlike his father, the other members of his family was against him to play cricket. Meanwhile, the Sultan was determined to play cricket, then he was selected in for the Pakistan U- 19 team. Seeing his success in the game of cricket his family also realized that Saif should be a cricketer. After that, he got the full support out of his family. He faced difficulties in managing the balance between studies and the cricket. Then, his father advised him to be focused on cricket and make the study as a supplementary task.

19 years old Saif Badar made his list a career debut in the Pakistan Cup held back in 2016 playing for Punjab Badshahs. He made his first-class debut for Khan Research Laboratories the Quaid- e- Azam trophy, 2017- 18. The right-handed batsman made his T20 debut in the National T20 Cup 2017- 18 for Peshawar.

The Sialkoti youngster played for the first time for Pakistan in Dubai, where he couldn’ t prove his talent in the first two games, but then he came back strongly and played two consecutive knocks of 99* and 53 making his way to the ICC U-19 world cup held in India. He played a brilliant inning against England scoring 75 runs facing 80 deliveries helping his team winning that contest. That was the turning point of his career, Badar scored a fifty against Nepal and enjoyed much of the success in that tournament.

Seeing his performances the former legendary cricketers like Ion Bishop, Javaid Miandad, Aqib Javaid showed tremendously good remarks regarding his talent and temperament toward the game of cricket. They hoped that this youngster is going to play a long-term cricket for Pakistan.

Talking about joining the new franchise Multan Sultans he said that he is excited to be part of Multan Sultans which consists of such a legendary group of players and coaches like Shoaib Malik, Wasim Akram, and Tom Moody. He believes that they have got a wonderful team, and working as a unit they can produce astonishing results in the Pakistan Super League.

Sharing his experience regarding Shoaib Malik captaincy, Badar said:

Playing with Shoaib Malik is such an honor for me. Especially, playing under his captaincy is my dream. He is one my ideals in the game of cricket.

Badar has a dream to play with Shoaib Malik, they have played together for Punjab in the National Cup. Where he enjoyed a good time and learned a lot of beneficial tricks from Malik. Talking about Wasim Akram in chai with sultan he said, “I’ ve no experience working with Wasim Akram so far, but hopes that I’ ll have a great time with him too, he is a legend of all times.”

#Quick Fire – chai with sultan:

The show also comprises of sub-segments where the players have some sort of entertainment, and the public could know about the interests of their Sultans. In Quick_ fire, there is a task to give the answers to the questions voluntarily and immediately. After watching that segment, it came to know that this Sultan prefers batting over bowling, day-night test over day-test match, T20 over One Day match, Pakistan country over abroad, briyani over palao and iPhone over Android.

#Tape ball Challenge – chai with sultan:

Tape ball challenge is another segment of the show where the players have to tape the cricket ball as quickly as they can. Badar completing that challenge in 26 seconds, better than Muhammad Irfan who completed the same task in 40 seconds.

#No laughter Challenge – chai with sultan:

The last segment of the show is no laughter challenge, which tests the control on your emotions. Our Sultan won that segment also beating the host on the third turn.
